Ofc 2026 key takeaways about new quantum carrier-grade infrastructure
The curtains have closed on OFC 2026 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and for the team at QTI, the takeaway is clear: the conversation around quantum security and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) has fundamentally changed.
In previous years, quantum cryptography was often seen as a theoretical milestone rather than a practical tool. This year in Los Angeles, from March 17th to 19th, the atmosphere was different. We didn’t encounter curiosity about what QKD is; instead, we met an audience that has mastered the essentials. The American market and global players present at OFC have clearly done their homework. There is a newfound, widespread understanding of the “Quantum Threat” and, more importantly, a sophisticated grasp of Information-Theoretic Security (ITS).
The technical community now recognizes that QKD essential component of quantum-safe networks, offering a security model rooted in the laws of physics. This “theoretical certainty” that was once the subject of academic debate, is now accepted as a strategic benchmark.
Scaling quantum-safe infrastructure with Quell-X and Ekate
Our showcase highlighted the technical synergy between QTI’s Quell-X complete QKD system and the recently launched Ekate. While Quell-x guarantees the exchange of cryptographic keys in a unconditional secure manner, a QTI’s enhanced and modular key manager entity Ekate provides QKD-PQC crypto agility to adapt to clients security requirements. This modular approach, allows for the deployment of a quantum-safe networks with no need to modify existing optical transport equipments and architectures. The feedback received from C-level executives reinforces QTI’s position as a provider of carrier-grade solutions capable of mitigating the evolving cyber threats landscape, including harvest now, decrypt later phenomenon.
Beyond the technical milestones, what made OFC 2026 truly special was the opportunity to connect with so many of you. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who visited booth 4741, shared insights, and engaged in such inspiring discussions about the future of secure communications.
Looking ahead
For those who couldn’t make it or for anyone wishing to dive deeper into our technologies and how they can be integrated into your specific network architecture, our team remains fully available for further consultation.
Please feel free to reach out to us at info@qticompany.com to start a conversation or request a dedicated technical deep-dive. We are already looking forward to the next steps in this journey and can’t wait to see you all again at the next OFC.
