QTI’s conference “From Quantum Astronomy to Quantum Communications”, concluded today. The event gathered industry experts, researchers, and corporate representatives in Asiago to take stock of the state of the art in quantum communication technologies, ranging from space observation to terrestrial data protection.
The Path: From Astronomy to Critical Infrastructure
The program, structured over two days, followed a logical path reflecting the technological evolution of the sector. The first day deepened the themes of Quantum Astronomy, analyzing how advanced optical technologies, interferometry, and photon-counting observation form the basis of new astrophysical discoveries today. The technical visit to the Asiago Observatory concluded the session, highlighting the link with the territory and its scientific excellence.
On the second day, the focus shifted to concrete applications. QTI structured the proceedings around the theme “Quantum Communication Systems: Ground to Space and Back”. Discussions focused on how to integrate Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) into existing fiber optic networks and the development of hybrid ground-to-space infrastructures.
Particular emphasis was placed on the Industry Roundtable, dedicated to the European perspective. In this session, moderated to foster dialogue between parties, major players in the telecommunications and cybersecurity markets to outline common strategies for future Quantum Communication Infrastructure. .
Networking and Community
The event confirmed the growth of the community linked to quantum technologies in Italy and Europe. In QTI we are committed in fostering dissemination and the creation of an integrated ecosystem in the sector to transform scientific research results into industrial solutions for communication security.
