A look back at Laser World of Photonics

From 26 to 29 April 2022, QTI participated as an Exhibitor in Laser World of Photonics, one of the most prestigious gatherings in Europe for the lasers and photonics industry. In this unique environment, research, technology, and applications merge to describe the entire chain of production of multiple technological sectors.

The unique environment of Laser World of Photonics

Suppliers, producers, and vendors meet physically in the same place to exchange views, discuss and widen their network. From a thematic perspective, the approach adopted also left room for the fields of applications of lasers and photonics technologies, including the medical sector, industrial manufacturing, and electromobility.

This year’s Laser World of Photonics was hosted in the premises of Messe Munchen, large congress center in Munich, Germany. The trade fair was articulated in multiple halls, each focused on a specific sector. The 2022 edition of Laser World of Photonics has followed the 2019 one, as in 2020 the Fair has not been held due to Covid-19 pandemics. For health reasons, this year the fair has not been held in parallel with the related congress, which will be convened afterward. This format has not affected the high-level participation in the fair, which featured more than 900 Exhibitors from 30 countries and 15.000 visitors from all over the world.

World of Quantum at Laser World of Photonics

There could not have been a better opportunity for QTI to participate in such an outstanding event than this year’s edition. Indeed, the 2022 Laser World of Photonics dedicated an entire section specifically to quantum technologies, the World of Quantum.  The premiere of the World of Quantum confirms the impressive increase in quantum technologies on both the research and business sides. This section of the fair dealt with quantum technologies at large and their potential applications in multiple fields, including cryptography, sensing and imaging, medicine, and communications.

QTI company booth

The World of Quantum was a perfect match stage for QTI, with its own booth in the World of Quantum. The booth displayed QTI graphics and logo in a modern corner configuration, where the power of QTI was synthetically captured in a dedicated video looping on a wide screen.

QTI delegation to Laser World of Photonics, composed of CTO Davide Bacco, Quantum Cryptographer Claudia De Lazzari, and Marketing & Communication Specialist Alessandra Matteis, welcomed visitors at the company booth. The team received more than a hundred visitors including potential clients, partners, suppliers, researchers, and students.

QTI booth at Laser World of Photonics also featured a special guest, the company’s Alice unit. With its violet surface, recalling the colors of the city of Florence, Alice attracted the attention of the visitors that asked our experts questions related to its development and operation.

QTI Talk at EPIC Meeting on Single-Photon Sources

Another important side of trade fairs is the opportunity to have talks from company representatives to provide insights on research and business activities. In this sense, our Quantum Cryptographer, Claudia De Lazzari, was hosted as a speaker at the EPIC Meeting on Single-Photon Sources and Detectors at Laser World of Photonics held on 26 April in Messe Munchen premises. As a proud EPIC member, QTI benefits of the possibility to be included in major European events and activities organized by the consortium.

On this occasion, the talk was focused on Quantum Key Distribution in Real Telecommunications Networks and provided an overview of the results achieved by QTI from its foundation in October 2020. The ESOF2020 September 2020 QKD enabled video call between the Italian Prime Minister and the Magnifico Rettore of the Trieste University and the QKD public demonstration at G20 event were also briefly exposed to the audience, underlining the commitment of QTI (read more here).

Walking in the avenues of Laser World of Photonics

QTI Team in Munich also enjoyed the opportunity to visit the other halls of the trade fair, dealing with a wide variety of sectors such as lasers and optoelectronics, sensors, and optical information and communication. There QTI met with suppliers and other companies extensively talking about consolidated and future business partnerships and also benefitting from some more relaxing moments.

International events are key to QTI business allowing the company to network with other entities, meet potential clients and suppliers, and be present and known in the global arena of quantum technologies, to show its research and business know-how.
